Cecilia Bengtsson1984 Göteborg
Sculptor and musician Cecilia Bengtsson acquired some fame in 2016 with the ‘Pendulum’ audio work. This work (presented among other things at the Galerie Lumen Travo in Amsterdam) is both a sound sculpture and a performance that looks into the interrelationship between two bodies by means of sound waves of the human voice. Bengtsson’s works of art are about how we, as humans, meet and interact with our environments and each other in communication or pure sound waves.
With a background as a classically trained musician, Cecilia Bengtsson studied visual arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and she participated in the Artistic Research Master at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague. She performed and exhibited in a wide range of contexts, including the Appel, Lab 111, Teto Projects and STROOM.
